San Mateo Seal Point Park & East 3rd Avenue Landfill Closure
Project Management, Resident Engineering, Inspection
This multi-faceted and challenging project created a new wetlands, closed an old municipal landfill, and created a new City Park that forms a major new link in the San Francisco Bay Trail. The new Park has a variety of recreational facilities including a dog park, windsurfing ramp, extensive trails, an outdoor classroom, municipal art displays, parking, and scenic overlooks of the new wetlands and SF Bay.
The project also built a new segment of city street off the landfill site at Detroit Drive. This segment incorporated rubble fill from inert landfill materials, with geofabric-reinforced engineered fill and base supporting a new asphaltic-concrete roadway. This major subproject was performed by change order to the landfill closure/park contractor.
